When your notebook runs out — or when you don't have it with you — you can print XNote paper on your own printer and keep writing. Printed papers work exactly like notebook pages: the pen records what you write, and your notes appear in the app once you sync.

The Printable Papers screen lists the available paper types with previews. Click a type to see a larger preview.
3.8.2 Printing Paper
- Click the paper type you want to print.
- Select the [number of pages] and click Print. The app generates a PDF in A4 size.
- Save the PDF to your computer.
- Open the PDF in a PDF application such as Adobe Acrobat Reader and print it using the settings below.
- Print a single test page before printing the rest.
Print at 100% actual size. In the print dialog, select "Actual size" (100%). An option such as "Fit to page" changes the spacing between the dots, and the pen cannot recognize the page.
Set the printer's paper size to A4. Load A4 paper into the printer and select A4 in the print dialog as well. If the paper in the tray differs from the PDF, the printer scales the page on its own and the pattern is distorted.
Print from a PDF application, not from your browser. Do not print the PDF directly from the browser preview — browsers (Chrome and others) redraw the pattern. Save the file first and open it in a PDF application.
Use a laser printer with a resolution of at least 600 dpi. The pen cannot read pages printed on an inkjet printer at all; what makes the pattern visible is the carbon in laser toner. Below 600 dpi, the dots blur together.
Use original toner. Most refilled and third-party toners contain no carbon. The pen sees a blank page where the pattern should be.
Use a PS or PCL driver. The printer driver on your computer must be PS or PCL. If you are not sure, you can download one from your printer manufacturer's support page.
Turn off ECO and grayscale. ECO, draft, and grayscale modes make the pattern too faint. On a color printer, leave the color output setting enabled.
Use 80 g/m² white paper. Plain white, high-grade copy paper. The pen cannot read the pattern on recycled, textured, colored, or letterhead paper.
